A Bit Personal

Warning: This amazing blog post has references to multiple products that contain possibly offensive content such as, strong language, violence, different opinions, jokes, Grif and moments so sad they may make your heart explode. Research at your own risk.

Yo, everybody it's me the most charismatic man in the galaxy, The "Super Sloth" Shay Hanson. This week I'm going to tell you beautiful people a story, but not just any story the most important story in the history of humanity... MINE! So buckle in as you read the most compelling true story since the Titanic.

Alright what I am about to say is going to be hard to believe, but I used to have some really depressing self esteem issues,  I thought I was worthless and nobody liked me. I faced constant bullying. (My name rhymes with gay for crying out load!)  I also hated almost every one since any time I got a friend they would eventually run away. Basically I was emo.

All of that would still be true if it wasn't for the three things that saved my life, Home school, Pro Wrestling and Rooster Teeth. Now most of you know what the first two are, but the third one may have you scratching your head, so let me expand on that. Rooster Teeth is a online video production company, and I LOVE THEM! They make some of the best videos on the internet. Including the longest running, most viewed and best web series ever Red VS Blue. That show (and many others made by them) has helped me so much.

I see a bit of my self in all of the characters in Red VS Blue. So to see them over come things, and be so loved by millions of fans filled me with a great amount of confidence. Their show RWBY even gave me the confidence to ask someone out, then i watched Red VS Blue to help deal with the break up. No matter how stressful home school was or how bad wrestling sucked Rooster Teeth has always been there for me. Even recently i was starting to turn into emo shay again then I watched Lazer Team (Rooster Teeth's Movie) and it snapped me out of it. Rooster Teeth also helped me realize i wanted to entertain people for a living.

If you liked this blog which i know you did then share it with your friends. I f you have something need me to know put it in the opinion  box below. i well see you all next time. Same awesome time same awesome blog.

I Don't Have a Title This Time...

One hotly debated topic on YouTube is copyright. Some say that how YouTube handles it is justified others hate it's guts for its policy's. Well don't worry because the best blogger in the world, nay the galaxy is here to show you the light. This is why YouTube needs to fix a really broken system.

Let me be clear. I understand you should have the rights to your own content. If someone is infringing that by uploading things like full movies and TV episodes they need to be taken care of. Which besides some really annoying examples they are. When I say there copyright system is broken I'm  more talking about there claiming system.

You know that saying innocent until proven guilty. I love that saying, to me it is the foundation of fair justice. Well apparently YouTube decided to take that saying lite it on fire, throw it thru a window, then take a grenade throw it thru the same window watch it explode and roast marshmallows over the fiery exploded hole that use to be a window! Because even if you post a video that is 100% original you can still get it taken down, it's ad revenue siphoned or even your whole channel taken away from a copyright claim. I do understand that if there is any content that could threaten the website it should be taken care of. I don't have much of a problem with there first reaction, it's what comes after that bothers me.

YouTube is slower than a snail on sleeping pills, towing a house and wearing cement shoes. these unfair claims can take anywhere from a week to months to fix. All of that time the creator makes no money off that content. That brings me to my second problem  there is no penalty for making a false claim. So some one said something you don't like just hit them with a copyright claim. Now technically you can bring them to court for this but most low to middle class YouTubers don't have the money to do that.

There is to much to cover on this topic for this blog (and after all got to save some of it for the video right). I have barely touched the surface here but hopefully you understand a bit more about every ones favorite train wreck. Tell me what you think in the opinion box below, if you liked what you read which i know you did tell your friends about it and check out my other blogs. Talk to you all next time same awesome time same awesome blog! Peace!

Looking back on basically nohing

I don't have anything to reflect on. I'm serous this project has had almost no effect on my life. That's not to say that my life hasn't changed, it has a lot actually but not because of this project. It has been a lot of fun but if it wasn't in my life I don't think id notice much of a difference.

I'm a one man army on this project, i have no one helping me other than Ryan. That is mainly because i have absolutely no social life  (I am my own best company after all) and I don't need much  if any help. This project is like 500% in my comfort zone. It's me doing what i do best talk and about something I know a lot about YouTube.

All the feed back has been positive. No big issues, a lot of people have been really exited it  seems so that's pretty cool. There has been one minor change. I was original going to use an old Sony camera and tripod out of storage to film with. But decide that i'm going to buy a tripod for my Galaxy S7(#HumbleBrag). mainly because quality is about the same plus i'm to lazy to dig thru my storage.

It overall has been pretty mellow it well take about 3 days to do make the finale product. One day to write a script(and by script i mean a couple sheets of paper to keep my thoughts together), the next to record it and the final day well be editing yay(sarcasm).

There really is nothing else to talk about. I have been having fun bring you all the greatest blog of all time. Tell me what you think about this amazing blog in the opinion box below, if you liked what you read which I know you did tell friends about it, talk to you later. Same awesome time same awesome blog. Peace!

A Fully Prepared Interview

Thursday was the definition of last minute. Now that might sound like a bit of an overstatement but trust me it's not, I not only had nothing prepared for the mentor interview I wasn't even sure if it was going to happen. But what does your man the best blogger to ever write a blog do? Simple he wings it and gets it done. So without further a due this is the transcript of this impromptu interview with my mentor Ryan Laughy the schools digital art teacher.

ME: What is your background in the digital world?

RYAN: Well I majored in college i did no video editing of any sort because their where no computers in collage. I have been working with photo shop for 22 years now, so i have a good foundation in Photoshop. I've taught  premiere for 7 years, I have always had apple computers which means i have had access to i movie since its inception. I have done many productions with i movie and honestly prefer it to premiere, premier is a very complex program but most of the time you don't need that complexity. I movie is genius because of how intuitive it is which is typical of an apple product, your mother could figure it out in half an hour. I currently have a good number of students doing blogs and video blogs (vlogs). For different classes we have put together. Of course that is the nature of this school we can put things together and make magical things if we want to.

ME: Kind of like this interview, it's pretty magical to be able to do this on the fly.

RYAN: You can defiantly call it that. I had a student who graduated  some years ago and now lives in Texas, because he can do what he loves to do in Texas and that is blow things up. He runs a you tube channel for a living and its called GY6 it's a gun aficionado channel.

ME: Kind of like fpsrussia?

RYAN: Yes they are actually friends. Andrew(GY6) probably makes 4 times as much as i do a year on you tube.

ME: Do you know a rough subscriber count?

RYAN: He hit 500,000 over Chrismas. he has sponsor ships with gun and explosive manufacturers to do reviews of their products, honestly a lot of his reviews slam the product. He is a valuable resource for the industry and a lot of companies are welling to pay for the exposure. the foundation of his work is audacity he said "theirs no reason why i can't do it so i'll do it" and he did it.

ME:  Do you think that YouTube changing the world?

RYAN: I feel that it's just a system of the change that were already going through, every thing has digitized. their are good and bad things to that. i have had 2 students now who have been diagnosed with this thing called anhedonia which is the inability to feel pleasure. About 20 years ago about 3000 of a present had any systems of anhedonia, now they figure 15%  of people have go through this on some level. It is based on how every thing is electric. You are plugged in and there is a price for that. Like how people don't need to remember things the way they use to scene they can just google it. I think YouTube is another system of that, which is fine it's very entertaining but it is a chruch that we use for many things. A lot of us older teachers are trying to find a difference between the old and the new. because the new is inevitable but there is a lot of value in the old. i can get almost anything from the internet so i don't have to learn it but the thing is i have to because we can not lose that ability and we are slowly losing that. which is dangerous because if we forget the past we are doomed to repeat it.

ME: How would you feel if your job was at jeopardy every second?

RYAN: My job is on the line every second. Because we don't have a union we are whats called at will employees. We can be fired for any or no reason. So we always have to be relevant. But even if we were a union school we wouldn't do anything different., we are the strangest school around welling to do things no one else well and that's wonderful. Safe is boring if it works great if it doesn't failure is the best teacher.

ME: a lot of that is like the life of a YouTuber, so what do you think about the "wheres the fair use"controversy on YouTube?

RYAN: There's a big belief in digital anarchy. Is there a digital morality? I really like what you said early that this is the wild west of media. But the wild west was not the best place do we adopt a new set of laws? Have we lost a bit of humanity buy blurring the line of owner ship? I think that we need to define that line. One big problem is that piracy has plagued the internet. I know many people who are totally strait arrow people who have no problem stealing things, and then use mental gymnastics to make it seem ok. I don't know how to solve that.

ME: Another problem that YouTubers and anyone who works on the internet face is ad block. What do you think about that?

RYAN: That's a tough question as I used ad block for years. Because it is annoying to have my content invaded by ads, but i really don't have the right to have every thing i want but no reward for the people giving that to me. Fair is fair that is capitalism and that works pretty well, What i want may not be right and that's a problem I have to deal with. I have actually turned off ad block on all of my computers. But I pay no attention to any of them.

Alright beautiful people I hope you enjoyed that I know I had a lot of fun transcribing it (sarcasm). See you all next time on the best blog in the world. Same awesome time, same awesome blog
